Devising instructions for going from one location to another on a map

Activity

(i) Teacher shall prepare chits of locations well known to children.

(ii) Divide the children in groups of two each

(iii) First player will pick up two chits from the lot and show one chit to every one and fix the place as starting point.

(iv) He / She will show second chit only to the teacher. That place in the chit is fixed as the destination

(v) First player will give clues (i.e) route to help the second player to find the destination.

நான் ஒரு கடிகாரம். என்னில் 1 முதல் 12 எண்கள் குறிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும். எனக்கு 2 முள்கள் உள்ளன. குறுகிய முள் மணிமுள் எனவும், நீண்ட முள் நிமிடமுள் எனவும் அழைக்கிறோம். சில கடிகாரங்களில் மற்றுமொரு விநாடி முள்ளும் உள்ளது.

மணிமுன் ஒரு எண்ணுக்கும் அடுத்த எண்ணுக்கும் இடையில் நகர்ந்து செல்ல 1 மணி நேரம் ஆகும். நிமிடமுள், மணிமுள்ளை விட அதிவேகமாக ஒரு எண்ணிற்கும், அடுத்த எண்ணிற்கும் இடையில் 5 நிமிடத்தில் நகர்கிறது. விநாடி முள் மிக வேகமாக 5 விநாடியில் ஒரு எண்ணிலிருந்து மற்றொரு எண்ணிற்கு நகர்கிறது.

புதிர்க்கதை

அடர்ந்த காட்டில் முயலும் மானும் நெடுநாள் நண்பர்களாக வாழ்ந்து வந்தன. இரண்டு விலங்குகளும் அன்பாய்ப் பழகி வந்தன.மான் பார்ப்பதற்கு அழகாக இருந்ததால் எப்படியாவது வேட்டையாடி விடவேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் அங்குள்ள நரிக்குத் தோன்றியது. நரி ஒரு நாள் மானிடம் "நண்பனே! நீ உன் நண்பன் முயல்மீது அளவுக்கு மீறிய பாசம் வைத்துள்ளாய்! என்பதை நான் அறிவேன். ஆனால் முயலோ, உன்னைவிட நான்தான் அழகு என்று எல்லா விலங்குகளிடம் சொல்லிக்கொண்டு அலைகிறது.

முயலிடம் தொடர்ந்து நீ நட்பு வைத்துக்கொண்டால் உன்னை ஏதாவது ஆபத்தில் மாட்டிவிடும்" என்றது நரி. மானிற்கு நரியின் தந்திரம் புரியவில்லை . "அது எப்படி?" என்று கேட்டது. அதற்கு நரியானது, "அதோ தூரத்தில் தெரிகிற குகைக்கு முயல் உன்னை அழைத்துச் சென்று அங்கு வாழும் சிங்கத்திற்கு இரையாக்கிவிடும்" என்று பொய் கூறியது. மானும் நரியின் சூழ்ச்சியைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் அதனை நம்பி நடுகாட்டிற்குள் சென்றது. தனது நண்பனை வெகுநேரம் ஆகியும் காணவில்லையே என்று முயல் துடிதுடித்தது. காட்டிற்குள் அலைந்து திரிந்து தேட ஆரம்பித்தது. கடைசியில் நரி தந்திரமாக மானை வேட்டையாட அழைத்துச் சென்றதைப் பார்த்துவிட்டது. "நரியாரே! என் நண்பனை எங்கு அழைத்து செல்கிறாய்?" என்று கேட்டது. "இன்றிலிருந்து மான் உன் நண்பன் அல்ல. மான் என் நண்பன்" என்று நரி பதில் கூறியது "மானைவிட்டுவிடு!" என்று கதறியது முயல். அப்படியானால் என் மூன்று புதிர்களுக்கு விடைகூறு? பிறகு விட்டுவிடுகிறேன் என்றது நரி. சரி! புதிர்களைச் சொல் என்றது முயல்.

புதிர் 1: கீழே வரும் ஆனால் மேலே போகாது அது என்ன?

புதிர் 2: கைகள் இருக்கும், ஆனால் கைதட்டமுடியாது அது என்ன?

புதிர் 3: தொடக்கத்தில் உயரம் எரிந்து முடிந்தவுடன் குட்டை அது என்ன?

முயல்நரியிடம் இவ்வளவுதானே! இதோவிடை சொல்கிறேன் என்றது. முதல் புதிருக்கு 'மழை' என்பதே விடையாகும். இரண்டாவதற்கு 'கடிகாரம்' என்பதே விடையாகும். மூன்றாவதற்கு 'மெழுகுவத்தி' என்பதே விடையாகும் என்றது. முயல் விடை கூறியதைப் பார்த்துத் திகைத்து போனது நரி. நீ கூறியபடி புதிருக்கு விடை சொல்லிவிட்டேன் என் நண்பனை என்னிடம் அனுப்பி விடு! என்று கேட்டது முயல். நரியும் வேறுவழியில்லாமல் மானை விடுவித்தது. மான் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் முயலுடன் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து வாழ்ந்தது.

மாணவர்களை இரு குழுக்களாகப் பிரிக்க வேண்டும். ஒரு குழுவிலிருந்து மாணவர்கள் இருவரை அழைத்து அதில் ஒருவரின் காதில் அவருக்கு மட்டும் கேட்கும்படியாக மெதுவாக ஒரு சொற்றொடரைக் கூறுக. இப்பொழுது அந்தமாணவர், சொல்லப்பட்ட சொற்றொடருக்கு ஏற்றாற்போல் எதிரே உள்ள மற்றொரு மாணவரிடம் நடித்துக்காட்ட வேண்டும். அதனை, அந்த மாணவன் கண்டுபிடிக்கவேண்டும். இவ்வாறு தொடர்ந்து விளையாடி மகிழச் செய்க.
