What is a phrasal verb?
Look at the following sentences.
- 1. I exercise every day.
- 2. I work out every day.
In the first sentence verb is a single word. In the second sentence verb is a phrase (two words).
Definition: A phrasal verb is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or an adverb or both. Phrasal verb differs in meaning with the combined meaning of the individual words.
