Pattern in Numbers

We have learnt about some patterns in shapes.

Let us learn about patterns in numbers.

Numbers Sequence up to 1000 | 3rd Grade Maths Term 1 Unit 2

Numbers Sequence Upto 1000

3rd Maths : Term 1 Unit 2 : Numbers

Numbers sequence upto 1000.

Numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are one digit numbers.

Numbers from 10 to 99 are two−digit numbers.

99 is the biggest two−digit number.

10 is the smallest two−digit number.

Formation of the numbers such as 10,100 and 1000.

when 1 is added with 9, we get 10.

When we add 1 with 99 we get 100. The numeral 100 represents the number ”HUNDRED”, the smallest three digit number. One hundred has 10 tens. One hundred has 100 ones.

The numeral 1000 represents the number ”Thousand”, the smallest four digit number. One thousand has 10 hundreds. One thousand has 100 tens.

What are the different activities for which we use water? Observe the picture and talk about it.

We use water for many of our daily activities. We drink water to keep ourselves healthy. We use water to bathe. Cook, wash clothes and graw plants. We cannot live without water.

Preparation of lemon juice

Cut the lemon into two pieces. Squeeze the juice into a glass. Add sufficient sugar and a pinch of salt. Pour water and stir it well.

Match the activity with the object.

Rain is the main source of water for lakes, ponds, wells and rivers. All living beings need water to live. Fishes, frogs, ducks and many plants live in water.

Steps to prepare clean and safe drinking water

Count and write.

Fun with Water

Keep some pieces of ice in a bowl. Leave it for 10 minutes and observe what happens. Ice slowly melts into water. You can touch and feel it too.

Prepare water of different colours by using food colours.

Count the number of tumblers of water necessary to fill the given pot.

Activity

Aim: Creating subtraction stories.

Things needed: Flash card with subtraction facts like

Procedure:

(i) Divide the class into two groups.

(ii) Let the students from one group pick up the card from the deck and show it to the other group.

(iii) Students from that group have to make a subtraction story for that card.

(iv) This activity can be interchanged between the groups and continued.

Teacher's note: Teacher can encourage the children to tell stories on addition and subtraction on their own. This encourages mathematical communication in the classroom.
