What is resource planning and why is it necessary?
Resource planning is the strategic process of identifying, quantifying, and developing resources for their judicious and sustainable use. It involves making careful decisions on how to use available resources to meet current needs while ensuring they are available for future generations.
It is necessary for the following reasons:
- Limited Resources: Most resources are finite and can be depleted if not used carefully.
- Uneven Distribution: Resources are not distributed equally across all regions. Planning ensures equitable access.
- Sustainable Development: It helps in meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
- Prevents Wastage: Proper planning minimizes the over-exploitation and wastage of valuable resources.
- Environmental Protection: It helps in conserving the environment by reducing the negative impact of resource extraction and use.
