💡 Understanding Prefix in English Grammar

What is a Prefix?

ஒரு சொல்லிருந்து மற்றொரு சொல்லை அமைக்க, அச்சொல்லுக்கு முன் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஒரு அசை (Syllable) Prefix ஆகும்.

📝 Example: re + act = react
இதில் act என்பது கொடுக்கப்பட்ட / ஏற்கனவே உள்ள வார்த்தை (Root word), re என்பது Prefix ஆகும். இதனை act உடன் முன் சேர்க்க react என ஒரு புதிய வார்த்தை உருவாகிறது.

Commonly Used Prefixes

ஆங்கில இலக்கணத்தில் பொதுவாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் சில Prefixes:

• mis, be, un, under, over, fore, dis, counter
• ex, in, pre, post, re, super, ultra, non
• il, sub, extra, semi, anti, auto, pro
