One evening, after delivering cakes to a blind man, he noticed a tiny hole in a dike, with water trickling through. He knew this small leak was dangerous and could flood his village. Without a second thought, he plugged the tiny hold with his finger. As night fell, his hand grew numb with cold, but he stayed put. He bravely endured the night to protect his country. You are Raja. The street lights of your area don't work properly. As a responsible citizen, write a letter to the newspaper enlightening them about the problem and also suggest ways to brighten the area.

Raja,
12, Gandhi Street,
Nehru Nagar,
Virudhunagar.

15th October 2023

The Editor,
The Times of India,
Virudhunagar.

Sir,

Subject: Non-functional street lights and need for immediate action

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned municipal authorities to the poor maintenance of street lights in Nehru Nagar. For the past two weeks, most of the street lights in our area have not been working.

This has resulted in darkness engulfing the streets after sunset, making it extremely unsafe for residents, especially women, children, and senior citizens. The darkness has also led to an increase in anti-social activities and the risk of accidents. Despite several complaints, no action has been taken.

I suggest that the authorities immediately repair the lights and consider replacing old bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights to brighten the area effectively. Regular maintenance checks are also crucial.

I hope this letter will prompt the authorities to take swift action and ensure the safety of the residents.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Raja.
