The most surprising thing was the presence of the village elders on the back benches, who had come to thank the master for his forty years of faithful service. M. In the poem "The Secret of the Machines," the machines confess their inferiority to the human brain by highlighting their own limitations. They admit that they are incapable of emotions like love, pity, or forgiveness. They state, "We are not built to comprehend a lie," which shows their lack of understanding of abstract human concepts. The Editor,
The Indian Express,
Chennai - 600002.

Sir,

Subject: Non-functional Street Lights in Ram Nagar - Reg.

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the poor maintenance of street lights in our locality, Ram Nagar.

For the past month, most of the street lights in our area have not been functioning. This has plunged the entire area into darkness after sunset, making it extremely unsafe for the residents. The darkness provides a cover for anti-social elements, and the number of thefts and chain-snatching incidents has increased. It is particularly dangerous for women, children, and senior citizens to step out of their homes in the evening. The risk of road accidents has also gone up significantly.

I suggest that the authorities undertake regular maintenance checks of the street lights. Replacing the old fused bulbs with new, energy-efficient LED lights would be a long-term solution. A dedicated helpline for such complaints would also ensure a swift response.

I hope the authorities will take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure the safety of the residents.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,
Kalai

(True-story- little boy named Peter - rescues his followmen - sees a small hole - water flows like a stream - thrusts his finger - stops the leaking water - next morning - people repair the hole - thank Peter.)

The Hero of Haarlem

This true story is about a brave little Dutch boy named Peter, who became a hero. One day, while walking home, he noticed a small hole in the dyke, a wall built to keep the sea from flooding the land. Water was trickling through it like a stream. Peter knew that even a tiny leak could grow bigger and cause a devastating flood, endangering his entire village. Without a second thought for his own safety, he thrust his small finger into the hole to stop the leaking water. The night was cold and dark, but Peter stayed there for hours, pressing his finger against the dyke. The next morning, a group of people found the shivering boy. They quickly understood the situation, repaired the hole, and carried Peter back to the village as a hero. The people thanked him profusely, for his quick thinking and courage had saved them all from a great disaster.
