1. Write about Hamid and his parents.

Hamid was a four-year-old orphan boy who lived with his grandmother, Ameena. He was a happy and positive child despite his poverty. His parents had passed away. His father died of cholera, and his mother died soon after. To protect him from the sad reality, his grandmother told him that his father had gone to earn money and would return with silver coins, and his mother had gone to Allah to get lovely gifts for him. This filled Hamid with hope.

2. What story did grandfather tell them about the haunted hill?

Grandfather told the children a story about an English family - Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their children - who lived on the hill. During a terrible storm, their house was struck by lightning, and the entire family was killed. Grandfather claimed that he had often seen their ghosts playing in the moonlight on the hill, which is why it was called the 'haunted hill'.
