The Editor,

Subject: Poor Maintenance of Street Lights in Gandhi Street Area
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of the municipal authorities to the poor state of street lighting in the Gandhi Street area of Virudhunagar.
For the past month, most of the street lights in our locality have been non-functional. This plunges the entire area into darkness after sunset, making it extremely unsafe for residents, especially women and senior citizens. The darkness has led to a rise in petty crimes and has also caused a few minor accidents. Despite several complaints to the local authorities, no action has been taken so far.
I suggest that the authorities immediately repair the existing lights and consider installing new energy-efficient LED lights to brighten the area effectively. Regular maintenance checks should also be scheduled to prevent such issues in the future.
I hope this letter will awaken the concerned authorities from their slumber and prompt them to take the necessary action.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Raja
