Zigzag

Dr. Ashok T. Krishnan received a peculiar bird named Zigzag from his friend Somu, who was leaving for Alaska. Somu described Zigzag as a multilingual talking-singing bird. Dr. Krishnan's children were thrilled to have a new pet. However, upon arrival, Zigzag was completely unmoved and silent. It just perched on a curtain rod, sulked, and soon began to snore loudly, creating a thunderous noise that disturbed the entire household and even the neighbours. The family was frustrated by the constant snoring. On the seventh day, Dr. Krishnan took Zigzag to his clinic. To everyone's surprise, the bird started managing the patients with commands, bringing silence and order. It was then that Dr. Krishnan received an e-mail from Somu, revealing that Zigzag was not a talker but was trained by an African witch doctor to be a clinical assistant. The strange, snoring bird turned out to be a genius in its own way.

47. Read the following paragraph and answer the questions given below.

(Dolphins are regarded as the friendliest creatures in the sea and the stories of them helping drowning sailors have been common since Roman times. The more we learn about Dolphins, the more we realize that their society is more complex than people previously imagined. They look after the other dolphins when they are ill, care for pregnant mothers and protect the weakest in the community, as we do) Some scientists have suggested that dolphins have language but it is much more probable that they communicate with each other without heading words. Could any of these animals be more intelligent than man? Certainly the most common argument in favour of man's superiority over them that we can kill them more easily than they can kill us is the least satisfactory. On the contrary, the more we discover about these remarkable creatures the less we appear superior when we destroy them.

a. What are the friendliest creatures in the sea?

Dolphins are regarded as the friendliest creatures in the sea.

b. What do the dolphins do to other dolphins?

They look after ill dolphins, care for pregnant mothers, and protect the weakest members of their community.

c. What do the scientists suggest?

Some scientists have suggested that dolphins have a language.

d. Do the Dolphins kill human beings?

No, the passage does not state that dolphins kill human beings. It implies the opposite by stating that humans can kill dolphins more easily.
