32. Describe the struggles underwent by the young Seagull to overcome its fear of flying.

The young seagull was terrified of flying. His two brothers and sister had already flown away, but he was left alone on the ledge because he feared the great expanse of the sea below. His parents tried everything to encourage him; they scolded, threatened, and even left him to starve, but his fear was paralyzing. For twenty-four hours, he was alone and hungry. The sight of his mother tearing a piece of fish maddened him with hunger. In a clever move, his mother flew towards him with the fish but stopped just out of reach. Overcome by hunger, the seagull dived for the fish, forgetting his fear. He fell outwards and downwards, and for a moment, he was seized by terror. But then his wings spread outwards automatically. He felt the wind against his feathers and realized he was flying. This desperate, hunger-induced plunge was the final struggle that helped him overcome his fear.
