In China, in about 1200 B.C people traded shells for what they wanted. Chinese people also traded metal tools for the things they wanted. For example, they traded metal knives and shovels for the things they wanted. Later in China, people made metal money. In about 100 B.C people made money of animal skin. The first paper money was made from white coloured deer skin. It came from China about 900 years later. In about 700 B.C people made the first round metal coins. The coins were made of gold and silver. They looked very similar to the coins we use today. These coins came from Lydia. Lydia was located where the country called Turkey is located today. After people made coins in Lydia, people in Rome, Iran and Greece also began making coins.

16. The extensive search operation by the police:

The arrival of the police turned the quiet house into a scene of chaotic activity. A squad of policemen, including a few reporters and photographers, stormed the house. They rushed upstairs, led by the narrator's mother. The police searched everywhere with great energy but little success. They looked under beds, peered into closets, and ransacked the drawers. They even tipped over furniture, looking for the "burglar." Their search extended to the attic, where they found the grandfather, who, mistaking them for deserters from General Meade's army, angrily sent them away. The entire operation was marked by confusion and commotion, ultimately finding nothing but adding to the family's bewilderment.

Maddened by hunger, when he saw his mother with a fish, he dived for it. For a moment, he was seized by terror as he fell downwards. But then his wings automatically spread outwards, and he felt the wind against them. He started soaring upwards and downwards, and his fear vanished. He screamed with joy, flying with his family over the green sea, finally landing and floating on the water, having successfully conquered his fear.
