Part - IV Solutions
23) Write a paragraph by developing the hints.
Once, an honest old couple lived in a small village. They had no children but had a pet dog whom they loved dearly and fed with fish and tidbits from their own kitchen. One day, the dog led them to the garden and started barking and wagging its tail violently, digging at a particular spot. The old man dug there and found a pile of precious things. With this treasure, they bought rice and corn fields and became prosperous. Their greedy neighbour, hearing of their good fortune, borrowed the dog, hoping it would find treasure for him too. He took the dog to his garden, but it only dug up dirt and filth. Enraged, the neighbour killed the dog and buried it under a pine tree.
The spirit of the faithful dog appeared in the old man's dream and instructed him to make a mortar from the wood of that pine tree. When he did so and ground rice in it, the rice turned into gold. The envious neighbour borrowed the mortar, but when he used it, the rice turned to dirt. In a fit of rage, he burnt the mortar. Again, the dog's spirit appeared in a dream and told the old man to scatter the ashes of the burnt mortar on withered trees. When he did, the withered trees miraculously sprouted leaves and blossomed. The prince of the country, hearing of this wonder, visited the village. He witnessed the old man's power and rewarded him generously. The greedy neighbour, who tried to imitate him, only got ashes in the prince's eyes and was punished. He finally realised his mistakes and repented for his greed and cruelty.

iv) Where have you seen a butterfly? and Describe its beauty?
(This is a personal response question. A sample answer is provided.)
I have often seen butterflies in gardens and parks, especially during spring. They are incredibly beautiful creatures. Their most striking feature is their large, colourful wings, which can have intricate patterns of orange, yellow, blue, and black. They fly gracefully, fluttering from one flower to another as they drink nectar. Their delicate and vibrant appearance brings a sense of joy and life to the surroundings.
