Glossary of Key Terms
- व्याकरण (Vyakaran)
- Grammar. The set of structural rules governing the composition of sentences, phrases, and words in any given natural language.
- अपठित गद्यांश (Apathit Gadyansh)
- Unseen Prose/Passage. A section in exams where students must read a previously unseen text and answer comprehension questions based on it.
- मुहावरे (Muhavare)
- Idioms. Phrases or expressions whose meaning cannot be deduced from the literal definitions of the words that make them up.
- लोकोक्तियाँ (Lokoktiyan)
- Proverbs. A short, well-known saying that states a general truth or piece of advice.
- संधि विच्छेद (Sandhi Viched)
- A grammatical process in Hindi and other Sanskrit-based languages that involves splitting a compound word into its constituent parts.
- निबंध (Nibandh)
- Essay. A piece of writing on a particular subject, typically required in language exams to test writing skills and expression.
