Glossary of Key Terms

व्याकरण (Vyakaran)

Grammar. The set of structural rules governing the composition of sentences, phrases, and words in any given natural language.

अपठित गद्यांश (Apathit Gadyansh)

Unseen Prose/Passage. A section in exams where students must read a previously unseen text and answer comprehension questions based on it.

मुहावरे (Muhavare)

Idioms. Phrases or expressions whose meaning cannot be deduced from the literal definitions of the words that make them up.

लोकोक्तियाँ (Lokoktiyan)

Proverbs. A short, well-known saying that states a general truth or piece of advice.

संधि विच्छेद (Sandhi Viched)

A grammatical process in Hindi and other Sanskrit-based languages that involves splitting a compound word into its constituent parts.

निबंध (Nibandh)

Essay. A piece of writing on a particular subject, typically required in language exams to test writing skills and expression.
