2. If cot θ = - 7/24, then find the values of sin θ and sec θ, If θ is in IV quadrant.

Solution: cotθ = - 7/24   [Given]

But, cot θ = x/y

∴  x = 7   and   y = -24

∵ θ is in IV quadrant,

∴ x is positive and y is negative,

r = √(x²+y² )

∴ r =√((7)²+(-24)² )

∴ r =√(49+576)

∴ r =√625

∴ r = 25

Let the angle be θ

sin θ = y/r = -24/25

sec θ = r/x = 25/7
