13. Give an account of the last day of M. Hamel in school.

The last day of M. Hamel in school was filled with deep emotion and patriotism. He wore his special green coat, frilled shirt, and embroidered black silk cap, which he usually wore only on inspection and prize days. The atmosphere in the classroom was solemn and unusual. The village elders were seated silently on the back benches to pay their respects to M. Hamel for his forty years of faithful service.

M. Hamel was patient and kind, explaining everything with great care. He delivered a heartfelt lesson on the French language, calling it the most beautiful language in the world. He expressed his regret that the people of Alsace had not been eager to learn their mother tongue. Overcome with emotion, he could not speak at the end. He turned to the blackboard and wrote as large as he could: "Vive La France!" (Long Live France!), and then dismissed the class with a gesture of his hand.

14. 'Technology is a boon to the disabled'. Justify.

16. What is the central theme of the poem "No men are foreign"?

The Hero of Holland

The story of the Hero of Holland is a famous tale of courage. One day, an eight-year-old boy was returning home after visiting a blind friend with a cake. As he walked along the dikes that protected his low-lying country from the sea, he noticed a small hole where water was trickling through. He knew that even a tiny leak could quickly grow and break the dike, flooding the entire village. Realizing the grave danger, he bravely put his finger into the small hole to stop the flow of water. As darkness fell and the night grew cold, the boy stood there all alone, pressing his finger against the dike. He stayed there throughout the cold and terrifying night. The next morning, a group of people found him, shivering but resolute. They quickly rescued him and repaired the dike. The people of the village hailed him as a hero, for his quick thinking and selfless act had saved them all from a terrible disaster.
