Tips for letter writing



In the case of English as the first and second language, the student has to write one letter either formal or informal.

Letters are broadly divided in following 2 categories.


i)
Official or formal letter

ii)
Personal or informal letter to your relative, friend etc


Formal letters are generally shorter than personal letters. These are written to some official authority. Formal letter


should be clear, precise and to the point.

An informal letter also should be written carefully. The receiver of the letter should be able to follow the subject correctly.


While writing personal letter make a mention of few persons in relation.

The date on the letter should be relevant to the subject and need not be examination date. v While writing the letter


understand the subject precisely and address it correctly to the concerned person

The approximate division of marks is as follows.
