Hamel spoke about the French language, calling it the most beautiful and logical language in the world. He urged everyone to hold fast to their language, as it was the key to their prison. The central theme of the poem "No Men Are Foreign" by James Kirkup is the concept of universal brotherhood and global unity. We all walk on the same Earth, share the same sun, air, and water, and have similar physical and emotional experiences. Answer to Letter Writing:

Raja,
15, Gandhi Street,
Ramanathapuram.
15th October 2024.

The Editor,
The Indian Express,
Ramanathapuram.

Sir,

Subject: Non-functional street lights in Gandhi Street - Reg.

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the poor maintenance of street lights in our area, Gandhi Street.

For the past month, most of the street lights in our locality have not been functioning. This has plunged the entire area into darkness after sunset, causing great inconvenience to the residents. The darkness provides cover for anti-social elements, making it unsafe for women and children to venture out. Moreover, the risk of accidents has increased significantly for motorists and pedestrians.

I request the authorities to take immediate action to repair or replace the faulty lights. Regular maintenance and the installation of energy-efficient LED lights would be a long-term solution. I hope this letter will awaken the civic authorities to their responsibility.

Thank you,

Yours truly,
Raja

The Hero of Holland

Holland is a country situated below sea level, protected from the sea by massive walls called dikes. Years ago, a little boy named Peter lived there. His father was a dyke-keeper. One day, Peter's mother asked him to take some cakes to an old blind friend who lived across the dyke. On his way back, Peter heard the sound of water trickling. He discovered a small hole in the dyke. Knowing the grave danger, he called for help, but no one heard him. Without a second thought, he plugged the hole with his little finger. He stayed there all through the cold night, pressing his finger against the leak. The next morning, a passerby found him and quickly alerted the townspeople. They repaired the dyke, and Peter's bravery saved the town and all of Holland. He became a national hero.
