The young seagull was terrified to fly. He believed his wings would not support him over the vast sea. His family tried to encourage him, then taunted him, and finally left him alone on the ledge. He was overcome by hunger and desperation. The sight of his mother tearing a piece of fish just out of his reach was the final trigger. Maddened by hunger, he dived for the fish, forgetting his fear. His wings opened automatically, and he finally learned to fly, overcoming his struggle with a mix of joy and relief.
