This storm caused a shipwreck, bringing his enemies to the island on the command of Prospero. Among the shipwrecked was Ferdinand, the son of the King of Naples. He was separated from the others and brought to Prospero's cave. Miranda and Ferdinand met and instantly fell in love, which surprised them both. To test Ferdinand's love and character, Prospero tried him with hard tasks, which Ferdinand endured patiently for Miranda's sake. Meanwhile, Ariel brought the King of Naples and Prospero's treacherous brother, Antonio, to a state of repentance for their past deeds. Seeing their remorse, Prospero forgave them and restored his dukedom. Finally, he happily agreed to the marriage of Miranda and Ferdinand, uniting the two kingdoms.
