3x + 5y = 16; 4x – y = 6

(i) 3x + 5y = 16; 4x – y = 6

Sol. 3x + 5y = 16
Comparing with a1x + b1y = c1 we get, a1 = 3, b1 = 5, c1 = 16

4x – y = 6
Comparing with a2x + b2y = c2 we get, a2 = 4, b2 = – 1, c2 = 6
a1/a2 = 3/6 = ½ ............ eq. no. (i)
b1/b2 = 5/-1 = - 5 ............ eq. no. (ii)
c1/c2 = 16/6 = 8/3 ............ eq. no. (iii)
From Equation (i) , (ii) and (iii) we get

a1/a2 ≠ b1/b2

Unique Solution.
