Write a short note on Wikipedia.

Ans. Wikipedia is an online Encyclopedia. It is a free publicly editable online encyclopedia, launched in January 2001. As of January 2013, it has more than 24 million articles in 285 languages, which include 18 Indic languages.

Users registered with the website, known as Wikipedians, create and edit new articles. They are neither paid for their contribution nor is there any public recognition. Articles and edits are peer reviewed for language and reliability of content. Over time, Wikipedia has gained recognition as a major reliable information source. Today, it is ranked as the 6th most popular website. Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone–subject to certain terms and conditions.
